Bombers Blitzed by Gems 19-1

August 3, 2012 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Dubois County Bombers News Release

The Dubois County Bombers defeated the Quincy Gems at League Stadium Wednesday night but the Gems returned the favor big time by routing the Playoff bound Bombers 19-1 at Quincy Stadium this evening. After a 6 hour bus trip - their 6th such trip this season, the Bombers played like a tired team as their night unraveled quickly. Ty Simpson, who has been solid for the Bombers all year, suffered his worst outing giving up 12 runs in just over 3 innings. The teams will meet again in Quincy on Friday night for the rubber match of this three game series.

The Bombers road trip continues in Danville vs. the Dans on Saturday night at Danville Stadium before they begin a 2 game home stand on Sunday at League Stadium when they host the Dans at 6:15 pm for Family Night. Reserved Seats start at just $5 and General Admission is $4.

The Prospect League regular season concludes on Monday, August 6th and it is Fan Appreciation Night at League Stadium. The Bombers truly appreciate all the fan support this season and are selling all General Admission tickets for just $1 while Red and Orange Reserved seats are just $2. The Bombers hope to fill the park on Monday night and give the team some inspiration heading into the playoffs. Game time is 7:15 p.m versus the Springfield Sliders.

The Prospect League playoffs start on Tuesday when the Terre Haute Rex, whose fans continue to buy up tickets, invade League Stadium for a 7:15 elimination game. It's all on the line as the winner is the Western Division Champion and advances to the Prospect League Championship best of three series beginning next Thursday at the Eastern Divison's Champion. The Bombers earned the right to host Tuesday's game by winning the first half of the season with a 20-9 record while the Rex earned the right to be the visitor by clinching the 2nd half last night. It should be a great night of exciting baseball. Playoff tickets are $5 for General Admission, $7 for Orange Chairbacks and $8 for Red Chairbacks.
