
Bombers acquire defenseman, agree to terms with forward

Dayton, OH- Dayton Bombers Head Coach and General Manager Don MacAdam announced today that the Bombers have acquired defenseman Scott Ford from the Trenton Titans in exchange for defenseman Evan Shaw. The Bombers also agreed to terms with forward Dan Baum. As per club policy, terms of both deals were not disclosed.
Ford, a 27-year-old native of Fort St. John, British Columbia, appeared in 22 games and scored five points (1 G, 4 A) for the Trenton Titans last season. He also spent time in the American Hockey League, appearing in 46 games for both the Providence Bruins (44 games) and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (2 games). He scored a total of seven points (1 G, 6 A), all of them for the Bruins. In 2004-05, the 6'3", 225-pounder, appeared in 17 games for the Fresno Falcons of the ECHL and one game for the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League. He played his collegiate hockey at Brown University from 2000-2004 and scored 47 points (15 G, 32 A) in 118 career games.
Baum, a 6'1", 194-pound native of Biggar, Saskatchewan, was drafted #215 overall in the 7th round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. He spent last season with the Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL where he appeared in 24 games and scored six points (1 G, 5 A). The 23-year-old spent four seasons in the Western Hockey League prior to playing in his first professional season in 2003 with the Toronto Roadrunners of the American Hockey League. He appeared in 258 games in the WHL and recorded 163 points (79 G, 84 A) during his career, including a career high 73 points (32 G, 41 A) in 72 games in the 2002-03 season. Baum, not only known for his offensive abilities, can also play the physical game, proving it in the WHL, by putting up 666 career penalty minutes.
