Chico Outlaws News Release
CHICO, CALIF - Just a week after Grant Gregg was named the Golden Baseball League's "Pitcher of the Year," the Chico Outlaws received another honor Thursday as General Manager Bob Linscheid was named the league's "Executive of the Year" for the GBL's inaugural 2005 season.
Under Linscheid's guidance, the Outlaws posted the top revenue and profitability performance of any team in the GBL while finishing 2005 with the second-highest average attendance (1,855 per game) league- wide. "Bob has been an incredible asset for the GBL in our inaugural season and this award is well deserved," said David Kaval, CEO of the Golden Baseball League. "His combined knowledge of the business of baseball, the sport of baseball, and the needs of the community in Chico are unsurpassed. In addition, his business acumen and relentless focus on improving the fan experience have resulted in a great revival of professional baseball in Chico."
"I am honored to be singled out by the league," Linscheid said Thursday, "but the Outlaws success was far from a one-man effort. The front office staff [assistant GM Chris Holen, Operations Directors Becca Hoffer, Director of Ticket Operations Brian Ceccon, Office Manager Tracey Perotti and PR/Broadcasting Director Rory Miller] worked extremely hard to make the fan experience as positive and first-class as possible, and [manager] Mark Parent put a quality club on the field...it was a team effort from start to finish."
Linscheid began his sports management career nearly ten years ago as a co-founder, Vice President and General Manager of the independent Western Baseball League's Chico Heat. He served as Commissioner of the WBL for three years before returning to his community activities and economic development consulting practice. In addition to his sports experience, Bob is the President of the Linscheid Company, member of the Board of Trustees of the California State University system, former Chief Executive Officer of the Chico Chamber of Commerce, and current CEO/President of the Chico and Butte County Economic Development Corporations.
