
Blues Ink Stempniak To Multi-Year Pact

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has re-signed forward Lee Stempniak to a multi-year contract.
"Lee has been a terrific player since breaking in with the Blues two seasons ago and we are excited to watch him grow wearing the Bluenote," said Davidson. "He's a young player with tremendous skills and he will continue to be a valued asset for our hockey club as we move forward."
Stempniak, 24, set career highs in all offensive categories, goals (27), assists (25) and points (52) while playing in all 82 games with the Blues last season. He ranked first on the team with 27 goals and was second on the team with 52 points. Stempniak posted a career high seven game point streak (three goals, five assists) from Dec. 26-Jan. 9. He also represented the Western Conference in the NHL YoungStars game on Jan. 23.
"I'm appreciative of the Blues ownership and thrilled that they have made a long term commitment to me," said Stempniak. "I enjoyed playing last season under Andy Murray and I'm happy to continue my career with the team. St. Louis is an outstanding sports town and it's been great to play in front of our great fans."
Stempniak has played in 139 NHL games, amassing 79 points (41 goals, 38 assists) along with 55 penalty minutes in two seasons with the Blues. The West Seneca, New York native was originally drafted by the Blues in the 5th round, 148th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
