Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

The Bridgeport Bluefish have more than holiday cheer filling their ballpark this Christmas. For the sixth consecutive year, the Bluefish are working with the Evergreen Network, Inc. to make sure holiday food baskets and gifts for children find their way to children and families who suffer from or have been affected by AIDS and other catastrophic diseases. Adaline DeMarrais of Fairfield, executive director of Evergreen, is in her 20th year of providing much needed cheer and support to impacted children and families.

"It's very generous of the Bluefish to allow us to use their ballpark as a gathering site for all the food and gifts we collect," DeMarrais said. "There is always a need for outreach but especially during the holidays and we want to help out as best as we can."

The Bluefish open the ballpark in November for Evergreen volunteers as they begin to collect their donations. Everything is stored at the ballpark and in December Evergreen volunteers come together to create the baskets. Each basket is made for a specific family to meet their individual needs. 93 families in the greater Bridgeport area will receive a basket from Evergreen this year.

"We're so pleased to be able to help the Evergreen Network in this way," Mary-Jane Foster, CEO of the Bridgeport Bluefish said. "They are a wonderful organization and we're grateful for the work they do."
