
Bluefish Defeat Riversharks, 2-1

(Bridgeport, Conn., May 11, 2003) â The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Camden Riversharks, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon before 1,451 fans at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. The come-from-behind win propelled the âFish to their first series victory of the season.
The Bluefish scored the game-winning run in their last at-bat by virtue of a throwing error by Camden shortstop Lipso Nava. Angel Espada's groundout scored Richard Almanzar from third base to give Bridgeport the victory. Hector Kuilan led off the ninth inning with a walk and was replaced Almanzar, a pinch runner. A passed ball by Camden catcher Alex Delgado and a sacrifice bunt from Wellington Sanchez moved Almanzar over to third base with just one out. Rolo Avila was then issued a walk and Rodney Lindney recorded the second out of the inning with a shallow fly ball to right field to set up the Espada at-bat.
Bridgeport tied the score in the seventh inning on a two-out RBI-single from Avila. Dee Jenkins scored on the Avila single after leading off the inning with a walk. Jenkins then moved to second on a Kuilan single and to the third on a Wellington Sanchez fly out to right field.
Camden took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI-groundout by Francisco Morales. Kevin Jordan scored on the play after reaching on an error by Bluefish shortstop Wellington Sanchez. Jordan advanced to second on a David Miller single and moved to third on a Brady Raggio wild pitch.
Keith Davis (1-1) earned his first win of the season by tossing a scoreless ninth inning. Del Mathews (0-1) took the loss for the Riversharks after recording one out while allowing an unearned run on one hit and two walks. Bluefish starter Brady Raggio allowed just one unearned run while scattering three hits over 7.1 innings (1BB, 8K). Camden's Delvis Pacheco also started, but did not factor into the decision after tossing eight innings while surrendering just one run on six hits (3BB, 4K).
BRIDGEPORT BLUEFISH TRADE INF JEREMY BOOTH TO ATLANTIC CITY FOR FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS
Bridgeport, Conn., May 11, 2003 -- The Bridgeport Bluefish announced that they have traded INF Jeremy Booth to the Atlantic City Surf for future considerations. Booth, 26, played in just one game for the Bluefish this season on the road at Newark (May 4, 2003) when he went 1-for-4 with a RBI. Booth had his best career season in 2002 with Solano of the independent Western League where he had career highs with a .327 batting average to go along with 7 HR and 48 RBI. He was eighth in the league with his .327 batting average and fifth in doubles (24). Booth has batted .278 with 11 HR and 75 RBI in 171 games during his three-year minor league career. He originally signed as a free agent with the St. Paul Saints of the Northern League in 1998.
