Bluecats prepare for rematch at Historic Boardwalk Hall

June 3, 2004 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Evansville BlueCats News Release

The Evansville Bluecats will look to get back to the.500 mark for the 3rd time this season as they head to the Boardwalk to face the Atlantic City Card Sharks. The Card Sharks are coming off what could be the biggest win in league history as they pulled off the upset over the defending NIFL champion Ohio Valley Greyhounds at home last Saturday. The Bluecats will be looking to keep their playoff hopes alive as they try to rebound from a disappointing loss to the Lexington Horsemen in which their explosive offense never got untracked.

The Card Sharks took advantage of a controversial call and great field position to win a tightly contested battle versus the Bluecats on May 15th in Evansville. The Bluecats will be looking to exact some revenge and keep from getting swept in the season series as they take their 4th-ranked offense up against a much improved Atlantic City defense led by former Ohio Valley Greyhound Eddie Bynes. Michael Cosey will be looking to break the single-season rushing mark for the Bluecats as he needs only 11 yards to surpass the previous mark of 498 set last year by Akili Roberson.

The Bluecat defense will need a solid defensive effort as they try to contain the league's 7th-rated passer in quarterback Tony Racioppi. Racioppi will be looking to get the ball to the team's leading receiver Eric Magrini and all-purpose threat James DeMaise, as well as their leading touchdown maker Ron Lewis.

Special teams may again be crucial, as the Bluecats will try to contain a team ranked in the top 5 in kickoff returns for the 4th week in a row. They may have found new life on the return team in Matt Jackson who amassed 127 return yards in last week's game including a franchise record 54-yard runback that went for a touchdown. In a close game, Bluecats' kicker Brad Zientara may become a huge factor. Zientara has accounted for 57 points this year in comparison to the 12 points contributed from Atlantic City's kicking rotation.
