Evansville BlueCats News Release

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats are pleased to announce the signing of two new players who have joined the team this week. The first player is Quarterback Nick Hart from Evansville. Hart played for Reitz High School and as a senior in 2003 he ranked 6th in Indiana Class 5A in passing yards with 1,797 and 3rd in Class 5A with 27 touchdown passes. In 2003, he led the Reitz Panthers to an undefeated regular season, and city, conference, and sectional championships. He was an All-State selection by the Bloomington Herald-Times. He then went on to play college football at Kentucky Wesleyan.

The BlueCats have also signed Brian Houston from Hampton University. Brain transferred to Hampton after starting his college career at Alabama A&M. While at Hampton, he earned All-MEAC honors at linebacker in 2004, and won the MEAC Decathlon and Javelin championships while competing on the Hampton track team. Hampton Football Coach Joe Taylor said, "Brain is one of the best Pirate linebackers to ever play for Hampton." Brian was the college teammate of current BlueCats Rudy Foye and Gerald Perry, and played last season for the Peoria Rough Riders.

The BlueCats are also excited to announce that defensive back Tez Morris has been honored by the league as Special Teams Player of the Week "Honorable Mention" for his performance in the Week One game against the River City Rage. Morris made 3 solo tackles as part of the BlueCats kickoff coverage unit, and was credited with 4.5 total tackles in the game. Tez also grabbed two interceptions for the BlueCats defense, and currently leads the league in that category.
