
Week One UIF Players of the Week Named

Omaha, NE - United Indoor Football has picked Rayshawn Askew, Eugene Phillips and Deric Yaussi as Players of the Week for Week One. Each week, UIF will choose an offensive, defensive and special teams player of the week. Askew of the Lexington Horsemen led his team to a victory over the Ohio Valley Greyhounds to receive Offensive Player of the Week. Phillips was voted as the Defensive Player of the Week for his play against the Colorado Ice and Yaussi has been named Special Teams Players of the Week for defeating the Billings Outlaws.
Rayshawn Askew (LEX) carried the ball 11 times for 66 yards and three touchdowns while contributed 18 points as the Horsemen defeated the Greyhounds 44-37. He also had two catches for 10 yards. In week two, the Horsemen will again be on the road this time in St. Charles, Missouri visiting RiverCity (1-0).
Eugene Phillips (BIL) had 11 tackles, two sacks, 3.5 TFL, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the Outlaw's 25-26 loss against the Ice. The Outlaws will host the Storm in week two.
Deric Yaussi (COL) had four field goals, two extra points, 337 yards on kickoffs and kicked the game winning field goal late in the fourth quarter to beat the Billings Outlaws 26-25. Colorado will travel to Omaha in week two to face the Beef (1-0).
Receiving Week 1 Honorable Mentions are: Offense, Eugene Reed (COL); Defense, Steve Frye (COL); and Special Teams, Tez Morris (EVA).
