Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release

The Blue Wahoos celebrate this July 4th week with all-American food, fun, and fireworks. On July 4th, fans receive an American flag upon entering the stadium to match the team's special edition uniforms. And throughout the evening, patriotic tunes pay tribute to our nation's history, past, present, and future. The Bayfront Stadium opens at 3pm, and Thurdsay's game begins early at 4pm.

After the game on July 4th, the field is open to the public for post-game entertainment. Special activities include an on-field viewing of the Steven Spielberg film "Hook" about Peter Pan, starring Robin Williams (rated PG). Also, several new local artists are scheduled to perform for the Wahoos fans. In the American tradition, the Sertoma Club presents fireworks over Pensacola Bay as the grand finale to a family-friendly patriotic evening.

The Wahooligan fun continues July 5th and 6th when the Pensacola Blue Wahoos take on the Jackson Generals. On Friday, July 5th, Cleveland Browns running back and Escambia High School graduate, Trent Richardson, will join the Wahoos at 4pm for batting practice and throw out the first pitch. The game begins at 7pm, and the gates open at 6pm. At the end of Saturday night's game, enjoy the Bayfront Stadium breeze and another all-American fireworks display.

On Monday, July 8, the Wahoos recognize Pensacola's first responders. We salute the bravery of our first responders who keep our Pensacola community safe. In honor of their service, a first responder will throw out our first pitch to begin the night's festivities paying tribute to the men and women who keep our communities safe and protected.

Donna Kirby, the Blue Wahoos Director of Promotion and Community Relations, said the Blue Wahoos are excited to offer their fans a variety of activities to celebrate July 4th and the days that follow.

"Our goal is to make this celebration of our country's independence unforgettable. We provide variety that is sure to please Wahoos fans and their families. Food and drink combined with a movie and fireworks mean fun for the entire family," said Kirby.

Join the Blue Wahoos as we celebrate America and its favorite past time with weeklong events showing our pride in the Red, White, and Blue.
