Holyoke, MA - The Blue Sox are finally back in action on Wednesday following the All-Star break.
Holyoke (14-19) skidded into the All-Star break dropping seven of its last ten games including a six-game losing streak.
But the Blue Sox were able to split a doubleheader with the Saratoga Brigade winning the back-end of it 3-0 heading into the All-Star break.
Now Holyoke must make up some ground in the final 11 games of the season to try and secure a spot in the 2013 NECBL playoffs.
The Blue Sox enter Wednesday's game two back of fourth place Saratoga and of the 11 game left of the schedule 10 come against teams that sit ahead of them in the Western Division standings.
Seven of those games will be played at Mackenzie Stadium starting off with their meeting with the Mountaineers on Wednesday.
The Mountaineers (19-14), who started out the season rocking and rolling to a 14-4 record, but since the just 5-10 and going 4-6 in their last 10 games.
Vermont sits in second in the Western Division and have nine games left on the schedule with five of those coming on the road.
This meeting with the Mountaineers will mark the fourth of the season and the Blue Sox are looking for their first victory against Vermont this season.
The first 500 fans at Mackenzie Stadium on Wednesday will receive a free Big Red Bobble head as it is bobble head night.
First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. while the gates open at 5:30 p.m.
