Blue Sox Lend Helping Hand Again

July 25, 2012 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Valley Blue Sox News Release

Just when it looked like the help was done with the proceeds from the raffle at Thursday's game against Danbury going towards the 14.5 million dollar renovation at the Holyoke Public Library, the Blue Sox do it again.

Along with that event going on, the Blue Sox will be accepting non-perishable food items at Thursday's game to help out Margaret's Pantry and Kate's Kitchen, which is in dire need of non-perishable food. Anyone that brings a canned good will be entered in a drawing for a signed bat by the 2012 Blue Sox team.

"We felt like this was something we needed to lend a helping hand with," Barry Wadsworth, Holyoke Blue Sox COO, said. "Getting to help with something like this is special and the Blue Sox are glad to do what they can."

Margaret's Pantry and Kate's Kitchen, both feeding programs of Providence Ministries of Holyoke are need of non-perishable food items so they can continue to serve the hungry in our community.

The most needed items are meals in a can, peanut butter, canned meats and hearty soups. Donated items can be brought to the Blue Sox game on Thursday evening where they will be collected at the gate.

For more information about the feeding programs or Providence Ministries, please go to our websitewww.provministries.com or call (413) 536-9109.
