Valley Blue Sox News Release

Montpelier, VT - Henry van Zant made his fifth appearance of the 2013 season for the Holyoke Blue Sox on Tuesday night against the Western Division leading Mountaineers.

Zant (1-1) was able to keep Vermont at bay through the first few innings allowing just three runs through six innings of work but the offense was not there to back him up.

Down 3-0 in the top of the sixth inning, the Blue Sox (9-8) were able to push across one run as Jacob Bruce was able to score on a passed ball after reaching base to leadoff the inning on an error.

That would be the only run the Mountaineers (14-4) would surrender using four pitchers to seal a league-leading 14th victory with a 7-1 win.

The game was called in the seventh inning.

Cody Brown (3-1) got the victory after pitching two innings of shutout baseball.

The Blue Sox are back in action on Wednesday as they welcome in the Saratoga Brigade to Mackenzie Stadium.

This marks the second time the two squads have met this season, the first time resulting in a 3-2 victory for the Blue Sox on June 21.

Fans that come out to the game have the chance to win if the Blue Sox win. With a Holyoke victory on Wednesday fans would get a free ticket to the July 4th game against the Danbury Westerners.

First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
