HOLYOKE, MA - The Holyoke Blue Sox, proud members of the NECBL, announced the addition of a new pitcher to the team's roster, right-hander Nick Sanchez out of Lakewood CA and El Camino College-Compton Center.

Sanchez, a sophomore for the Tartars, provides a dominant right arm for the rotation in Holyoke. In the South Coast Conference during the 2013 season, Sanchez went 10-3 with a 3.32 ERA over 95 innings, fanning 78 with 54 walks. Opponents hit just .207 off of him, and five times he went the distance in a game, including a five-hit shutout of East Los Angeles.

"[Sanchez] will be an exciting player to watch," Blue Sox President Clark Eckoff said. "He has a live arm, 94-95 MPH, and a great makeup...[he was] recruited by the University of Miami."

All of this suggests that Sanchez will come right in and be effective for a Blue Sox rotation that currently sits 7th in the league in team ERA at 3.74.

Sanchez is eligible to pitch in tonight's game at the Keene Swamp Bats; the team's next home game is Saturday July 6 in an exhibition against the Canadian National Team, and the next home NECBL game is Tuesday July 9 against the Swamp Bats.
