Blue Rocks Announce 2009 Seasonal Staff

Wilmington, DE - The Wilmington Blue Rocks have announced the hiring of their 2009 seasonal staff. The eight new employees include: A.J. Aleman and Gabe Gigliotti, Ticket Office Assistants; Marie Graney, Merchandise Assistant; Matt Janus, Broadcasting and Media Relations Assistant; Anton Kolodziej and Patrick McVey, Marketing Assistants; Greg Mathews, Group Sales Assistant; and Jake Schrum, Community Relations Assistant.

A.J. Aleman, Ticket Office Assistant

Aleman is a 21-year-old senior at Wilmington University. This is his first season working in professional baseball. The local product graduated from Newark High School.

Gabe Gigliotti, Ticket Office Assistant

Gigliotti is a Wilmington native and 2007 graduate of DeSalesUniversity, with a B.S. in Sports Management. While at DeSales, the 23-year-old was on the varsity track and field team. Gigliotti is entering his second season in sports and was most recently a ticket office assistant for North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.

Marie Graney, Merchandise Assistant

Graney begins her first season with the Blue Rocks as the merchandise assistant. Born and raised in Wilmington, Marie graduated from Mount St. Mary's University in May of 2008. She earned her bachelor's of science in business with a concentration in marketing. Marie worked for the Phillies Baseball Academy the past three summers and she was a member of the Eagles' game-day event staff for the 2008 season.

Matt Janus, Broadcasting & Media Relations Assistant

Janus enters his second season as a seasonal full-time employee of the Wilmington Blue Rocks and his first as the broadcasting and media relations assistant. Janus spent the '07 campaign as a marketing assistant, and also worked part-time for the Blue Rocks for seven years. The Middletown native is a 2007 graduate of the University of Delaware where he majored in journalism. Janus serves as the sideline reporter for the Blue Hen Football Radio Network, and is the color commentator for Delaware women's basketball. He also does play-by-play for the Delaware high school football and basketball game of the week on the local sports station, AM 1290 The Ticket.

Anton Kolodziej, Marketing Assistant

Kolodziej starts his second season with the Blue Rocks after serving as a game-day intern in 2008 working with the in-park "Fun Patrol" and marketing department. Anton recently graduated from Wilmington University, where he received his bachelor's degree in sports management.

Patrick McVey, Marketing Department

McVey went to West Virginia University for a year before transferring to Wilmington University. This May, the Newark native will graduate with a degree in sports management. He worked for the Wilmington Blue Rocks in 2008 as a game-day intern.

Greg Mathews, Group Sales Assistant

Mathews, a Fanwood, NJ native, enters his second season with the Wilmington Blue Rocks. In 2007 he served as a ticket office assistant. Prior to his time in Wilmington, Mathews completed an internship in the human resources department of the NJSEA. While employed at the Meadowlands, he was able to work with the operations department during concerts at Giants Stadium. The 24-year-old is a 2007 graduate of Springfield College in Massachusetts.

Jake Schrum, Community Relations Assistant

Schrum graduated from West Virginia University, where he earned a degree in communications. The 22-year-old native of Landenberg PA enters his second season with the Blue Rocks. He spent 2008 as a game-day intern in the marketing department.

Since the modern-day inception of the Blue Rocks in 1993, there have been 100 players that have gone from the Riverfront to "The Show". The Blue Rocks open their 2009 season on April 9 against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Atlanta Braves) in South Carolina with the first of an eight-game road trip. Frawley Stadium will see its first game action of the year on April 17 when the Blue Crew kicks off a six-game homestand with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch against the Lynchburg Hillcats (Pittsburgh Pirates).
