
Blue Crabs Split Doubleheader with Lancaster

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release
(Waldorf, MD. September 10th 2015) ---Southern Maryland and Lancaster were forced to play a doubleheader because of a wash out on Wednesday evening. The two teams came into play this evening with seven wins apiece against one another. On Thursday evening the two teams split the doubleheader, with Southern Maryland winning game one 4-2, and Lancaster taking game two 8-3.
In game one, Southern Maryland scored four quick runs with one run in the first and three runs in the bottom of the second. Southern Maryland had bases loaded for Fred Lewis. Fred lifted a fly-ball to center allowing Keith Castillo to score. The throw came in to the shortstop Lance Zawadzki, and Lance made a misthrow to second which allowed both Frawley and DeJesus.
Down 4-1 heading into the top of the fourth, Lancaster tied the game scoring three runs highlighted by Charlie Cutler two run double, and an Anderson Feliz RBI single.
Bryant Nelson, and Jamar Walton both scored on the fielder's choices off the bats of Casey Frawley, and Antone DeJesus in the bottom of the sixth, with Cody Eppley recording the save in the top of the seventh.
The script flipped in game two, with Lancaster scoring in spread out fashion. Mike McDade singled to score Jerry Owens, and Zach Collier in the top of the first. The Barnstormers added a run in the second, and three more in the top of the third. Kent Matthes led things off with a homerun, and a few batters later with the bases loaded, Juan Apodaca drew a walk, and a RBI. A couple of batter later. Yusuke Kajimoto lifted a fly-ball a couple of batter later to score Anderson Feliz.
Lancaster added two runs in the sixth, and Southern Maryland added two runs in the bottom of the seventh but fell well short of the mark. RHP Shaun Garceau struggled in game two, going just 2.1 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits. LHP Nate Reed pitched very well for Lancaster in game two, striking out eight.
The Blue Crabs continue their homestand tomorrow, starting with York and Southern Maryland resuming a suspended game from August 20th, followed by game one of the three game series. The first pitch for the suspended game will be throw at 6:00 P.M.
