Quad City Mallards News Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (November 25, 2012) - Nicklas Lindberg scored twice, Tyler Gron provided a goal and two assists and the host Bloomington Blaze broke loose for four third period goals on the way to a 7-2 win over the Quad City Mallards Sunday.

The Blaze put what had been a tight game beyond the Mallards' reach by scoring three times in three minutes and 18 seconds early in the third. Jared Walker crashed Mallard net to widen what had been a 3-2 Bloomington advantage to a pair of goals at 1:35 of the third. Just 56 seconds later, Lindberg banked his second goal in off Mallard goaltender Jimmy Spratt (41 saves) to make it 5-2. Tyler Gron walked into the goalmouth to score the sixth Bloomington goal at 4:53. Jesse Dudas capped off the third period onslaught by scoring from the right point at 10:28.

The Blaze pulled away only after the Mallards kept the game tight over the first 40 minutes. The Mallards entered the second period down 1-0, but soon deadlocked the contest when Mickey Lang scored from point blank range at 1:53. The Blaze, however, would respond with two goals in 50 seconds. David Gilbert's wraparound put Bloomington back on top at 4:28 of the second. At 5:18 Lindberg's wrist shot from the slot stretched the gap to 3-1. The Mallards clawed back within one when Brett Robinson scored on a breakaway at the 11:51 mark of the middle frame, but would get no closer.

Sebastien Trudeau scored the first of the Blaze's seven goals with a wrist shot from the top of the left wing circle at 17:18 of the first period.
