BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Don Parsons scored two goals and rookie goalie Ryan Ludzik stopped 39 of 41 shots to lead the Bloomington PrairieThunder to a 4-2 victory over Flint in International Hockey League action Sunday before 2,428 people at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The PrairieThunder scored three goals in 62 seconds to take a 3-0 lead. Jeff Rainville had the first goal with 12:06 remaining in the period off assists from A.J. Bozoian and Jacob Anderson.
John Nail scored the second goal 29 seconds later on assists by Christian Ban and Rainville. Parsons added the third goal 32 seconds later off an assist by Corey Rutt at the 11:04 mark.
Flint cut the lead to 3-1 when Greg Bullock scored his first of two goals with 14:38 left in the second period on a power play. He was assisted by Kyle Deck and Ryan Jorde.
Parsons then scored his second goal, and the 680th of his career, with 7:03 remaining in the second period on a power play. Marty Standish and Rutt had the assists.
Flint's final goal came from Bullock with 17:40 left in the game. He was assisted by Steve Rymsha and John DiPace. The loss left Flint with a 10-19-1-2 record (23 points), while Bloomington improved to 10-17 (20 points).
Ludzik and the PrairieThunder turned away 7 of 8 power play attempts by Flint, while Bloomington was successful on 1 of 4.
The PrairieThunder returns to action Tuesday with a 6 p.m. game at Muskegon before coming home for a 6:05 p.m. contest Wednesday against Port Huron at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
