Bakersfield Blitz News Release

Bakersfield - Bakersfield Blitz Vice President Paul Press announced his resignation as the team's vice president, to the Blitz ownership group last Monday, November 6th. Press will stay on as V.P. through Friday November 18th to assist in the transition.

"I've had a lot of fun and have learned more than I ever thought possible," said Press. "I would like to thank the local ownership group for keeping the Blitz here in my hometown of Bakersfield and for letting me be a big part of such a great organization. I have made so many friends from all around the United States over the past 4 years, through what I think is the greatest indoor sport in the world. I would like to give special thanks to af2 President Jerry Kurz and to former Blitz Head Coaches James Fuller and Rick Van Horne for giving me the opportunity to prove myself in the professional sports arena. I think what I will miss most is playing such a big role in the excitement on game day. "

Press has been part of the Blitz for the past four and half years. He began his career with the Blitz as a walk-on assistant coach, then as a paid assistant coach, appointed to Director of Team Operations, promoted to General Manager and finally as Vice President. Press, along with wife Kim, will remain part of the local Blitz ownership group. According to Mr. Press, they will keep their season tickets and he was "sure they would not miss any of the Blitz home games." The entire Press family was involved with the Blitz last season, with wife Kim working with the front office staff, daughter Brittanie working in the merchandise booth, son Trevor working with the game day crew, and even the two youngest kids, Joseph and Haylee often helped pick-up miniature footballs during the half-time festivities.

According to Press, the decision to step down from the V.P. position was not an easy one, but he's realized how much he misses coaching and needs more free time for his family. He is looking to get back on the field coaching again soon preferably on the high school level. "I think everyone needs to take a break now and then and I really want to spend more time with my family. My kids are growing up so fast and I just want to be able to spend more time with them."

Mr. Press and Scott Garrison (part owner) will be available 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Blitz office to answer any questions from the media. Season tickets for the 2007 Blitz season are on sale now with season seats as low as $45. For more information, please call 377-BLITZ (2548) or visit www.bakersfieldblitz.com.
