Bakersfield - The Bakersfield Blitz will face the Central Valley Coyotes in the Battle of Highway 99 - Part III on Saturday, July 15. Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Rabobank Arena.
The season series between the Blitz and the Coyotes is tied 1-1. In their first meeting, the Blitz brought home a 38-28 victory on April 15. On May 27, the Coyotes returned with a 56-46 win and sent the Blitz home with their first loss on the road. The Blitz are currently in third place in the National West Division with an overall record of 7-6. The Coyotes are currently in second place in the National West Division with an overall record of 9-4.
It will be Local Heroes Night on July 15 at Rabobank Arena. Bakersfield veterans, Purple Heart recipients, firemen, policemen, and other local heroes will be honored during a special ceremony at half time.
The Blitz pre-game show will be held on KGEO AM 1230 at 6:00 p.m. Full play-by-play coverage of the game will be on KERN AM 1410 at 7:00 p.m. with host, Puck Whitnack.
The 2006 Bakersfield Blitz Football Camp will be held July 17 - July 20 from 8:00 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the Silver Creek Center, 8515 Akers Rd. Blitz coaches and players will teach boys and girls (ages 8-14 years old) football skills, such as passing, catching, kicking, and blocking. The registration fee is $60 and includes a general admission ticket for the Blitz game on Saturday, July 22 at Rabobank Arena. Parents can register their children at City of Bakersfield Recreation and Parks or visit www.bakersfieldcity.us.
