
Blazing Third Quarter Propels Mill Rats

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats presented by Rogers, won their fourth straight victory on Saturday night over the Moncton Miracles with a final score of 127-101 in front of 1,966 fans.
The Miracles opened up the first quarter strong getting a lead over the Mill Rats, 19-28, but the Mill Rats went on a run to open up the second.
With just under 6 minutes left before half, a basket from Jerice Crouch followed by 2 points from Antonio Burks, tied the game 35-35. A three from Burks helped give the Mill Rats their lead, closing the first half 50-43 ahead of the Miracles.
The Mill Rats blazed through the third quarter, outscoring the Miracles 49-32. A few minutes left in the third, Anderson got his rebound and went back up, sinking 2. On the next play, he passed off the ball to Cavell Johnson for a dunk to give Saint John a 21 point lead, 80-61.
Third quarter action was all about the three pointers as Crouch and Burks both added some points to the board for the team. Mill Rats' Anthony Anderson scored 16 points alone this quarter, while Jerice Crouch added 10. Third quarter closed with a three from Moncton's Darrell Wonge, with the Mill Rats still leading 99-75.
Both teams battled hard in the fourth but the Miracles were not able to close the gap. The Mill Rats won the game with a final score of 127-101.
Leading scorers for the Mill Rats were Anthony Anderson with 25, while Sheray Thomas and Jerice Crouch each added 19. Cavell Johnson contributed 18. Sheray Thomas also posted a double double with 14 boards.
The Miracles were led by Darrell Wonge who netted 23, Devin Sweetney with 18 and former Mill Rats player Micah Brand with 15.
The Mill Rats rise to 8-7 on the season while the Miracles drop to 8-10.
The Mill Rats in invite everyone to attend the game tomorrow afternoon at 2pm against the Summerside Storm. The Millies will be collecting toys for tots at the door. The Storm currently are ranked #1 in the Atlantic Division.
Romero House will also be set up with the Charity Table so be sure to bring non-perishable food items.
The official dance team sponsor - Investors Group, will be building bikes on the floor and presenting 4 of them to children from The Joshua Group. The game will be an entertaining one so be sure to bring the whole family!
