
Blaze Set Season-Opening Roster

The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, have set the roster to begin the 2011-12 Central Hockey League season this Saturday, featuring seven players who called U.S. Cellular Coliseum home last season.
Blaze coach Paul Gardner finalized the 19-man roster on Thursday afternoon, with one player signing still to be finalized and announced. Among those returning to Bloomington are Jon Booras (who begins his sixth season in a Bloomington sweater), Jason Dale, Aaron Dawson, Marco Emond, Karl Fournier, Travis Granbois and Brodie Sheahan. Mike Zbriger returns to Bloomington hockey after a four-year absence.
Before finalizing the roster, the Blaze received defenseman Craig Cescon and forward Matt Whitehead in a trade with the Wichita Thunder for a player to be named. The Blaze also signed forward Luke Popko and placed him on injured reserve with a fractured hand suffered late in training camp.
The Blaze roster includes forwards Mike Baslyk, Jon Booras, Jason Dale, Karl Fournier, Travis Granbois, Marc Rechlicz, Brodie Sheahan, Matt Whitehead and Mike Zbriger; defensemen Craig Cescon, Aaron Dawson, Doug Krantz, Greg Moore, Ryan Palmer and Mark Znutas; and goaltenders D.J. DelBuono, Marco Emond and Dan Venet.
The Blaze open the season at home on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. against the Dayton Gems on "Economic Stimulus Night," when fans can have four tickets, four hot dogs, four chips and four drinks for only $25. Call the Blaze offices at U.S. Cellular Coliseum at 309-434-2980.
All Blaze games during the 2011-2012 regular and post-season can be heard live on WJBC.com. Fans may also subscribe to a video feed that will contain the Blaze broadcast through the Central Hockey League web site, www.centralhockeyleague.com.
The new Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, will be playing in the 14-team Central Hockey League. Bloomington will be in the league's Turner (Northern) Conference along with the Fort Wayne Komets, Dayton Gems, Quad City Mallards, Missouri Mavericks, Rapid City Rush, and Evansville IceMen.
2011-2012 tickets are now on sale by calling the Blaze office at 309-434-2980. Offices are located inside U.S. Cellular Coliseum, located at 101 S. Madison Street in downtown Bloomington.
