Chicago Blaze News Release

Naperville, IL - The Chicago Blaze head to Colorado today as they prepare to take on Helen Darling and the league leading Colorado Chill (12-5). The Chill, who hold a one-half game lead over the Houston Stealth and the Dallas Fury, have yet to lose a game on their home floor this year.

The Blaze (7-9) have continued to be a model of inconsistency losing their last game to the Dallas Fury by the score of 72-56. The Blaze shot a dismal 32% from the floor and 12.5% from the charity stripe. The Blaze will look to spoil Colorado's bid to go undefeated on their home court.

The Blaze signed center Cara Melton (University of Montevallo '03) on Friday. She is expected to help fill the middle until Mfon Udoka (WNBA Houston Comets) returns from competing abroad. The Blaze will travel to Springfield, MA to take on the Spirit on Friday before returning home for back-to-back contests on Sunday and Monday versus the Houston Comets and the Dallas Fury.

The Chicago Blaze is in its third season in the NWBL. The Blaze will play a 22-game schedule through March 23 and will play its home games at Merner Fieldhouse located at North Central College in Naperville, IL.

The National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) showcases professional women basketball players from across the nation, including players from the WNBA who choose to stay in the U.S. to play during the off-season. The season is played from January through April and the teams include the Birmingham Power, CHICAGO BLAZE, Colorado Chill, Dallas Fury, Houston Stealth, and Springfield Spirit.
