Utah Blaze News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - Another former Utah Blaze player will be suiting up this week for an NFL training camp with the signing of DB Dante Barnes (6-1, 190, Norfolk State) to the Washington Redskins.

"We are extremely proud to have another player join the NFL," said Head Coach Ron James. "Barnes is a dynamic cover corner and will add depth to the Redskins defensive backfield during training camp."

Barnes appeared in three games with the Blaze where he tallied 18.5 total tackles and one forced fumble before joining the Virginia Destroyers of the United Football League. The UFL has since delayed the start of its season.

Since the NFL lockout has been lifted, Barnes is the second Blaze player to be added to an NFL roster. WR Michael Preston (6-4, 205, Heidelberg University) was the first to sign with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday, July 26th. With the 90-man training camp roster, numerous AFL players will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in the NFL this season.

Barnes has been placed on the Other League Exempt List and the Blaze will retain his AFL rights.
