SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Blaze defensive end Caesar Rayford has officially signed a contract with the Indianapolis Colts, the franchise announced today. Rayford is the most successful pass rusher in Utah Blaze history and played in a franchise record of 55 games.

"Caesar Rayford has played an intricate role in this franchise," said Head Coach Ron James. "Over the past four seasons, I have watched him earn this opportunity through hard work. We're extremely proud to see Caesar sign with the Indianapolis Colts and we wish him the best as he enters the NFL."

"I would first like to thank God because I can do anything through him," Rayford stated. "I would like to thank the Blaze organization, coaches, and players. Without all of you, I wouldn't be here. Utah is a first-class organization - the best in the AFL. I also want to thank the Blaze fans. Thanks for all the memories and support."

Through eight games in 2013, Rayford registered 13.5 tackles with six sacks and seven tackles for loss while adding four forced fumbles, three blocked kicks, three quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and one safety.

Over a four-year career with the Blaze, Rayford set franchise records for sacks (28.5) and tackles for loss (33.5). He is tied for third in Arena Football history with nine blocked kicks and ranks 20th in sacks. Rayford's most successful season came in 2011, when he earned All-Arena honors after posting a career-high with 10 sacks.

Rayford becomes the sixth member of the Utah Blaze to sign an NFL contract during the 2013 season. In Indianapolis, he joins former Utah Blaze wide receiver Jeremy Kelley, who played eight games with the team as a rookie in 2012.
