
Blaze Continue To Struggle On Road

The Chicago Blaze watched their record drop to 1-4 as they lost to the Tennessee Fury (1-3) 76-73. The Blaze struggled from the floor as their starting backcourt shot a combined 5-for-25. Overall, the team shot only 32.5% from the field and 60.7% from the line in the game.
Tennessee guard Becky Hammond (WNBA New York Liberty) scored 15 of her game high 21 points in the 2nd half, including 4 of her 6 three-pointers. Marie Ferdinand (WNBA Utah Starzz) also contributed 18 points for the Fury.
The Blaze were once again led by forward Dominique Canty (WNBA Detroit Shock) who finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Forwards Latonya Johnson (WNBA San Antonio Silver Stars) and Jannon Roland added 14 each. The Blaze return home for a two-game homestand this weekend when they host the Grand Rapids Blizzard on Saturday, February 22nd and the Springfield Spirit on Sunday, February 23rd. Saturday's tip-off is 12:00.
The NWBL showcases professional women basketball players across the nation; including players from the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) who choose to stay in the U.S. to play during the off-season. The 2003 season will run through April.
