Blaze Bounce Back, Squash Spiders

Naperville, IL - LaTonya Johnson scored 19 points and Ebony Hoffman had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead Chicago to a 65-49 win over San Jose on Saturday night.

Chicago (8-8) broke a 19-19 tie with a 13-6 run in the last five minutes of the first half as they took a 32-25 lead at the intermission.

Chicago opened the second half with a 9-0 run to open their largest lead of the game at 41-25. San Jose (3-15) did not make their first field goal in the second half until Erica Glover's lay-up at the 13:26 mark. San Jose closed to within 60-49, but Johnson followed Hoffman's basket with a 3-point shot to close the scoring at 65-49.

Forward Mary Cofield chipped in nine points and Keila Beachem contributed 11 rebounds. Guard Keisha Anderson dished out a game-high nine assists in the contest.

Barbie Carmichael led San Jose with 13 points and Erica Glover contributed 12 points. San Jose made just 7 of 30 (23.3%) shots from the field in the second half.

Chicago will travel to San Jose next Saturday, followed by a contest on Sunday in Colorado. The Blaze return home to face San Jose again on Friday, March 18th, at North Central College at 7:30pm.
