Utah Blaze News Release
SALT LAKE CITY -The Utah Blaze are pleased to announce the signing of WR Eddie Jackson (6-4. 220, West Virginia) to the 2011 roster. "Jackson is a big, physical receiver and will be a great contribution to our receiving corp," said Blaze Head Coach Ron James. "His experience in both the NFL and af2 will create depth and competitiveness at that position." Jackson comes to the Blaze from the Rio Grande Valley Dorados of the af2. He played two seasons with the Dorados alongside fellow Blaze DL Rashaun Rowser (6-4, 310, Tennessee State), tallying 99 catches for 1200 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also had stints with the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks of the NFL. "It's a relief knowing I will get the opportunity to compete again, and it's a great feeling to be able to do it with the Utah Blaze."
Jackson began his collegiate career at Coffeyville Community College, where he helped the team to the Heart of Texas Bowl in 2001. He was ranked 84th in SuperPrep's ratings of the top junior-college athletes and was a second team all-conference pick as a sophomore at Coffeyville. He played in six regular-season games and had 18 receptions for 357 yards and three touchdowns before transferring to Washington.
With the Huskies in 2002, Jackson played in 11 games, hauling in 16 catches for 152 yards. He also aided the team in reaching the Sun Bowl in 2003. He later transferred to Western Virginia, finishing his collegiate career with 18 receptions for 248 yards.
