Indiana Blast News Release
INDIANAPOLIS-With an entire healthy squad and the addition of a new player, the Blast head to the West coast to play three games in four days. The spree starts in Vancouver this evening where the Blast will try to avenge their 4-1 loss at home. The Blast take on Portland Thursday, the team that gave the Blast their first win of the season. On Saturday evening, the Blast will travel to Seattle who has beaten the Blast twice this season in two closely contested matches.
The Blast hope to make a turnaround on the five day trip after the addition of former Mexican First Division player Enrique Camarena and the addition of Peter Baah to the active roster since hurting his ankle in the latter stages of the 2001 season.
LAST WEEK-The Blast played host to the Seattle Sounders last Saturday evening losing the contest 3-2. Myron Vaughn and Rodrigo Costa both scored for the Blast.
THIS WEEK-The team left Tuesday for the West Coast to play three games in four days against Vancouver, Portland, and Seattle
UPCOMING MATCHES-The next home match will be Sunday, July 14th at 7:05pm when the Blast host the El Paso Patriots. It's "Thunderstix Night" sponsored by Union Planters Bank. All games are played at Kuntz Memorial Stadium located at 1502 W. 16th street. Kuntz Stadium is an Indy Parks facility.
INDIANA BLAST SOCCER CAMPS-The Blast still have openings in several of their camps throughout Central Indiana including Danville July 8-12 and Westfield July 15-19. Space is limited and camps are filling up fast.
PLAYER ARRIVALS-Former Mexican First Division Star Enrique Camarena has officially, and finally, joined the Blast. Due to Visa delays, Camarena missed the first part of the 2002 season.
BACK IN ACTION-After ankle surgery last year and months of rehabilitation, Peter Baah is back in the line-up for the Blast. In the 2001 season, Baah started 18 games for the Blast and played in 21. He contributed a goal and an assist before a devastating injury put him on the injured reserve list in the latter part of the season.
