Indiana Blast News Release

INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana Blast (1-8-1 4pts) beat the Calgary Storm (4-0-6 12pts) 2-0 Saturday night at Kuntz Memorial Soccer Stadium. Semir Mesanovic and Jamar Beasley scored for the Blast, who won their first game since September of last year.

Semir Mesanovic started the scoring in the 13th minute off of a giveaway at midfield. The former Canadian U-20 National Teamer had a two-on-one with Jamar Beasley, but decided to keep it himself. He made the correct decision as the Calgary keeper, David Wiebenga, committed early and Semir was able to shoot around him to put the Blast in front.

In the 37th minute, Godfrey Tenoff chipped a ball just over the Calgary back line to Jamar Beasley. The Calgary defender misplayed the ball and Beasley's speed enabled him to beat the keeper to the ball and score.

The Blast held on until halftime up 2-0. The second half will probably be the longest 45 minutes of the season. The Blast dropped into a 4-4-2 from the 3-5-2 they had played most of the match. The move proved successful, as Calgary was only able to muster two shots on goal in the second half. Josh Lynk only had to make two saves en route to his first shutout of the season.

The Blast's next home game will be Sunday June 15th against the Seattle Sounders at 5:35 pm at Kuntz Stadium. Make plans now for a fun-filled family day with a free clinic for the kids. BD's Mongolian Barbecue will be on-site serving up free stir-fry samples. Gates open at 4:30.
