Blanchard Named Ironman of the Week
Huntsville, AL- The af2 has announced that Travis Blanchard has been named the JLS Ironman of the Week for his performance in the Vipers 34-30 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers this past Saturday. This is the second time this season Blanchard has won this award.
Blanchard finished the game with five rushes for 12 yards and a touchdown and one catch for 12 yards and a touchdown. He also added four kickoff returns for 63 yards, had two tackles, one for loss, one fumble recovery, and intercepted a pass late in the 4th quarter that allowed the Vipers to take the lead for the first time in the game on the next possession.
Blanchard was named to the af2 All-Ironman team last week, and previously won Ironman of the Week honors on May 20th for his performance in the Vipers 50-34 win over the Florida Firecats. The Ole Miss product finished that game with three rushing touchdowns, and led the team in tackles with eight. He set the Vipers single-season record for rushing touchdowns in a season with 13, and finished the regular season with 15 total touchdowns, and was third on the team in tackles with 37.5, and second on the team with three interceptions.
The Vipers host the Manchester Wolves this Saturday night at 7:30pm for the American Conference Championship. The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the ArenaCup to take on either Spokane or Amarillo. Tickets for Saturday's game are on sale now at the Von Braun Center Box Office.
