The Blades netminder Steven Stanford made 33 saves for his 2nd shutout of the post-season to take a 2-0 lead against the Red Deer Rebels in the best of 7 Eastern Conference Quarter-Final.

The Blades quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 5 minutes of the opening period. Curtis Hamilton opened the scoring 1:53 into the 1st period with his first goal of the post-season. Jyri Niemi quickly extended the lead with an unassisted goal at 2:55. 20 year old Walker Wintoneak notched his first of the playoffs at 4:36.

Neither team scored in the 2nd period but Darian Dziurzynski notched his first ever post-season goal at 10:29 in the 3rd period to ensure a 4-0 win.

Netminder Darcy Kuemper started the game for the Rebels but was relieved by Kraymer Barnstable after letting in 3 goals in 4 shots.

A total of 132 penalty minutes were given out with the majority of them in the last minute of play. The Red Deer Rebels Josh Cowen received a major charging penalty for a run in with Blades netminder Steven Stanford at 19:08. The run on Stanford led to a series of fights on the ice. As a result, a total of 7 fighting majors and 5 game misconducts were assigned before the final buzzer.

The Blades were 0/3 on the power play and 8/8 on the penalty kill.
