Blades Announce Signing of Charlie Wright

Saskatoon, SK - The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce the signing of 2003 born defenseman, Charlie Wright.

Wright was the third player selected by the Blades in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft with the 70th overall pick. The mobile blue-liner spent last season with the Red Deer Rebels Bantam AAA club where he posted 19 points and 20 penalty minutes in 36 outings; another 3 assists in two playoff contests, and a goal and 6 helpers in just 5 games at the Alberta Cup in April.

"Charlie is a player who became a real target for our staff as the year went on. His game showed continuous upward progression throughout the year, culminating with him being the top scoring defenceman at the annual Alberta Cup showcase in April," said Blades' Director of Scouting Dan Tencer. "We consider his mobility, skill and hockey intelligence to be significant assets and feel strongly that he'll develop into a playmaking defenceman who consistently pushes the pace from the back end."

Standing at 5'9", the left-shot d-man is known for his quick feet and elusiveness on the ice. Wright becomes the third prospect for the 2018 draft class to sign a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the Blades.
