Black Hawks Announce Try-Out Camp Schedule

Waterloo, Iowa-Waterloo Black Hawks veteran and prospective players will be on the ice for literally the longest days of the year and certainly some of the most competitive, starting this weekend. The Hawks' 2010 Try-Out Camp will be held at Young Arena from Saturday, June 19th through Wednesday, June 23rd.

Each day of the camp will feature scrimmage games between squads of potential Black Hawks, including members of the 2009-2010 team, draft picks, and other talented hopefuls looking to find a home in Party Town during 2010-2011. The camp will culminate with an All-Star Game of top performers on Wednesday.

Some prospects will travel thousands of miles for the chance to impress Waterloo's coaches. Competition is expected to be particularly fierce among forwards. Only two of the Black Hawks' top ten scorers from last season could return; the top six point producers from 2010-2011 will appear as freshmen for NCAA teams in October. However, as many as six defensemen who played in Waterloo last year could wear the Hawks' colors again, plus the Hawks hope to enjoy consistency in net after playing five goaltenders in that position at different times a season ago.

Party Town Outfitters, the official souvenir store of the Black Hawks, will be open for camp Sunday through Wednesday with specific hours posted in the arena. A limited-edition 2010 Try-Out Camp t-shirt will be available while supplies last.

A tentative schedule of scrimmage games follows below. All times and activities are subject to change. For Try-Out Camp participants who have registered with the Black Hawks coaching staff, check-in begins at 3:00PM Saturday at the rink.
