Cowlitz Black Bears News Release

Longview-Kelso: The Cowlitz Black Bears won their fourth consecutive game in front of nearly 1400 fans Friday night.

The Black Bears got another strong performance from starting pitcher Jeff Gold (University of Oregon). Gold threw into the 9th inning, giving up both Kelowna runs on five hits. Ryan Yuengel (University of Missouri) came in after Gold gave up a leadoff single in the 9th inning and proceeded to retire the next three batters to secure the save.

The production at the plate came from the bottom of the order, as the 7, 8, and 9 spots combined for 5 hits, while the top third managed just one hit and a pair of walks. Both Beau Didier (LSU) and Mitchell Walding (University of Oregon) went two-for-four with a pair of singles, a RBI, and a run scored.

Cowlitz will go for the series sweep tomorrow. First pitch is at 6:35 for another Applebee's Saturday at the Park. Smokey the Bear will pay a visit to Story Field with the US Forest Service. Mr. C's Photography is sponsoring Team Poster Night, so the first 1,000 fans will receive a team poster.
