GAME STORY: Bellingham: June 21, 2011: Another game against the Bellingham Bells produced another fine pithing performance by both sides, as neither team scored through the first five frames. With a bullpen depleted after playing 26 innings the past two days, Cowlitz needed starter Kevin Bosson (Cal Poly-Pomona) to go deep into the game, and he delivered.
Bosson pitched eight complete innings, giving up one run on three hits. His offense atoned for last night's shutout with a three-run sixth inning capped by an RBI double by Kyle Garlick (University of Oregon) that brought home two. Mitchell Walding (University of Oregon) went two-for-four with two singles that scored one run apiece, and Brett Thomas (University of Oregon) also went two-for-four while scoring twice.
The win improves the Black Bears to 5-9 on the season and guarantees at least a .500 road trip. The team looks for the series win tomorrow at 7:05 pm from Bellingham. The next contest at Story Field is Thursday, June 23rd when the Kelowna Falcons return the Bears' previous visit. Remember, it will be Thirsty Thursday, where beer will be just $2. Also happening will be Longview Fibre Ball Night - the first 400 kids 14 and younger will receive a logo baseball. Continuing the special promotions, all those with a college ID or wearing a college t-shirt or sweatshirt will get a $2 discount on general admission tickets.
