Black Bears Lose to Gems 6-3

Longview: The Klamath Falls Gems got five runs in the first three innings and finally prevented a Black Bears comeback, winning 6-3 to avoid a four-game sweep.

Kyle Kuck (Santa Ana) had an RBI single to bring in the first Black Bears run in the second and cut the deficit to 4-1. After another Gems run, the Black Bears got a run in the fifth on a Matt Ozanne (Santa Clara) sac fly and in the fifth when Austin Wobrock (Orange Coast) crossed the plate on an error.

Brian Carroll (UCLA) had another huge game, going 3-4 to move his batting average to .350. Alex Rubanowitz (UC Riverside) had a pair of singles and a sacrifice bunt as well. Alec Cordova (Cal State Fullerton) allowed just one run in four and a third innings and Nick Richardson (UC Santa Barbara) and Ian Ekery (Central Arizona) each threw a scoreless inning.

The Black Bears next home game is Sunday, August 5 against the WCL Portland All-Stars and it will be Best Care- Local Care Presents Kids Club & Senior Sundays. There will be a $2 ticket discount for all seniors. Kids Club members get in for free. Kids run the bases after the game.
