Black Bears Lose 4-2

June 9, 2011 - West Coast League (WCL) - Cowlitz Black Bears News Release

Kitsap: Andrew Brooks (Concordia University) took the mound looking to give the Cowlitz Black Bears their first win in league play. He pitched 5+ innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 2 and walking 4.

His offense had no problem getting hits, but Blue Jackets starter Richie Mascheri scattered the 8 hits he surrendered over 7 innings and limited the damage to one run.

Hitting with runners on base was again a trouble spot for Cowlitz, as their record fell to 2-2 (0-2) with the loss while Kitsap improved to 3-2 (3-2) while securing the series win over the visitors.

Jordan Harlow (Linfield College), Zac Israel (George Fox), and Braxton Miller (Lewis-Clark State) all collected three hits, while Cody Webster (Cal St. Fullerton) chipped in a pair of walks.

The Cowlitz Black Bears square off in the final game of their opening league series against the Kitsap Blue Jackets tomorrow, Thursday, June 7th, at 6:35.

Their league home opener will be Friday, June 10th, at 6:35 against the Walla Walla Sweets. It will be another ‘Las Rocas Fabulous Friday' along with Budweiser Can Koozie Night where the first 100 adults will receive a can Koozie. After the game, it's Play Catch With Dad on the field.
