Vancouver Giants News Release
Ladner BC - The Giants wrapped up training camp this evening with the Annual Black and White Game. This year the Giants have changed the format to include Alumni as guest coaches. Former Giants Captain Brett Festerling and Team Black scored four times in the second period en route to a 4-2 win over the Team White Squad, led behind the bench by former Captain Spencer Machacek and Boston Bruins forward and Giants fan favourite Milan Lucic.
Gary Rai led the way for Black, scoring twice in the second period scoring frenzy. Other Black goals were scored by Neil Manning and also by James Wright, who twinkled the twine on the power play to open the scoring. Team White was down 3-0 before Brendan Gallagher made a couple of highlight moves, sliding the biscuit underneath goaltender Jamie Tucker to make the score 3-1. Lance Bouma also scored for the White's before the second period was complete.
The third period was entertaining, but no further goals were scored.
Over 300 people took in the First Annual Alumni game. Brett Festerling gets the victory in his coaching debut and the fans were treated to a post game shootout featuring a spin-o-rama move by Brendan Gallagher brought the Ladner Leisure Centre crowd to its feet!
The Giants now prepare for the Kamloops Blazers, with games in Ladner on Friday night at 7:30 pm, followed by a contest Saturday night at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops.
