Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
DENVER -- Grand Rapids Rampage quarterback MICHAEL BISHOP became the first player in Arena Football League history to record a 100-yard rushing game in the team's 72-56 loss to the Colorado Crush before a crowd of 15,403 on Saturday at Pepsi Center.
In his third AFL career start, Bishop (6-2, 220, Kansas State) rushed for 100 yards, breaking the previous single-game mark set by MAJOR HARRIS (95 yards) in 1991 with the Columbus Thunderbolts (at Denver, July 6). Bishop broke the record with 17 seconds left in the third quarter when he rushed for a 31-yard touchdown.
The former Heisman Trophy runner up finished with six rushes for 100 yards and two touchdowns. He passed for 258 yards and four touchdowns (one interception) and two 2-point conversions.
The Rampage's 122 total rushing yards rank second all-time in AFL history, behind a 128-yard performance by the Columbus Thunderbolts against the Denver Dynamite set on July 26, 1991.
