Biscuits Smother Shrimp with 9-Run 10th for 14-5 Win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Montgomery Biscuits first baseman Mike Brosseau hit a two-run leadoff home run to left field to begin a nine-run 10th inning in a 14-5 win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in front of 3,539 at Community First Credit Union Two-for-Tuesday and Coors Light $2 Tuesday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

The Jumbo Shrimp (11-21 second half, 39-61 overall) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Montgomery right-hander J.D. Martin walked left fielder Braxton Lee, designated hitter Brian Miller hit a one-out single, and shortstop Joe Dunand hit a two-run double down the right-field line. In the bottom of the second inning, third baseman Brian Schales and catcher Rodrigo Vigil hit consecutive singles, and center fielder Monte Harrison hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.

The Biscuits (17-15, 54-48) tied the game in the top of the third inning against Jacksonville right-hander Max Duval. Center fielder Thomas Milone singled, right fielder Nathan Lukes walked, and designated hitter Nate Lowe hit a two-run double before scoring on first baseman Mike Brosseau's RBI single. Montgomery took a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning, when left fielder Peter Maris doubled, catcher David Rodriguez singled, Milone walked, and Lukes grounded into a double play that scored a run. Duval allowed four earned runs on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts in four innings.

Jacksonville retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning against right-hander Brandon Lawson. Harrison singled, first baseman Eric Jagielo walked, right fielder John Norwood hit a two-out, game-tying double, and second baseman Justin Twine hit a go-ahead RBI single. Montgomery tied the game with four sixth-inning walks by right-hander Lukas Schiraldi.

In the 10th inning, right-hander Jose Pena allowed Brosseau's home run and walked the next three batters before Rodriguez and Milone hit consecutive RBI singles. Pena allowed seven runs - six earned - and left-hander Scott Squier allowed two.

UP NEXT: The Jumbo Shrimp continue their series with Montgomery at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, when Jacksonville right-hander Robert Dugger (2-4) is scheduled to face a Biscuits right-hander Benton Moss (2-2).
