Montgomery Biscuits News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Flo. - In what was their longest game of the season (3:53), the Biscuits (54-48) used a nine-run top of the 10th to bury the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (39-61) and even the series in game two of their five-game set, 14-5, on Tuesday night at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
J.D. Martin got the start for the Butter and Blue, who fell behind early due to a two-run double by Jumbo Shrimp shortstop Joe Dunand in the first. Monte Harrison added a sac fly in the second to make it a 3-0 lead for Jacksonville, as the knuckleballer Martin lasted just two frames.
The Biscuits evened the score at three in the third, thanks to a two-run double by Nate Lowe and an RBI-single by Mike Brosseau off Jumbo Shrimp starter Max Duval. Montgomery took a 4-3 lead when Nathan Lukes hit into a double play with the bases loaded, but then lost that lead after an RBI-double by John Norwood and an RBI-single by Justin Twine, both in the fifth. A Rodrigo Vigil passed ball brought home the tying run for the Biscuits in the sixth and made it 5-5.
For the second-straight night, the game then shifted to extra innings, when Jose Pena (1-3) came on and served up a two-run blast over the left field wall to Brosseau to put Montgomery up for good at 7-5. The Biscuits were far from done though, as Pena then proceeded to walk the bases loaded before David Rodriguez laced an RBI-single. Thomas Milone then followed suit with an RBI-single of his own, Nathan Lukes was dealt a bases-loaded walk, Nick Solak singled home a run, and another one scored on a Braxton Lee error in left field.
Brosseau added his fourth RBI of the contest with a sac fly, and a Jake Cronenworth RBI-double tied a season-high for runs in an inning with nine, matching the total the Biscuits scored in the top of the fourth inning in an 18-9 come-from-behind win in game two of a doubleheader on July 1, also against the Jumbo Shrimp at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The Biscuits drew a season-high 13 walks in the victory.
Montgomery will try to make it back-to-back wins over the Jacksonville on Wednesday night when an opener and Benton Moss (2-4) take on Robert Dugger (2-4) at 6:05 PM CT.
The Biscuits will return home on Saturday, July 28 for Star Wars Night and MAX Fireworks as the Jackson Generals come to town for a five-game series. The series will also feature Bark in the Park as well as a Biscuits' backpack giveaway on Sunday, July 29, Golden Biscuits Monday on July 30, Dough Fest on Tuesday, July 31, and Military Wednesday and Business Person Specials on August 1.
