
Biscuits Come From Behind To Beat Jaxx

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (JUNE 26, 2010) - Montgomery (3-2, 41-32) trailed 3-0, but came from behind to beat the Diamond Jaxx (2-3, 41-33) at Riverwalk Stadium, 5-3 on Saturday night. Montgomery starter, Alex Cobb retired 14 straight batters after giving up three runs in the first inning. The Biscuits now lead the series 3-2 over the Jaxx with the sixth game coming up on Sunday afternoon.
The Jaxx only mustered four hits in the game. Scott Savastano finished 1-for-4 and increased his hitting streak to 15 straight. That ties his teammate, Jose Yepez and Huntsville's Drew Anderson for the longest in the Southern League this season. Johan Limonta hit his 10th homerun of the season and was 1-for-3 with two RBI's.
Jaxx starter Dan Cortes left after just 2.2 innings and walked a season high seven batters. Cortes gave up three runs on three hits and struck out two. Robert Rohrbaugh (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits in 2.2 innings of relief. Cobb (3-2) the winner for Montgomery went six frames and allowed three runs on four hits. He tied a season high with six strikeouts.
The Jaxx got off to a great start in the top of the first. Dustin Ackley ripped the first pitch of the game for a triple and scored on an RBI double by Carlos Peguero. Johan Limonta followed with a two-run homer to center to put the Jaxx up 3-0.
Leslie Anderson tied the game at three for Montgomery in the bottom of the third inning with a three-run homerun to right. The homer was the third of the year for Anderson. The Biscuits took advantage four walks issued by Dan Cortes in the inning. Robert Rohrbaugh relieved Cortes in the inning and struck out Emeel Salem with the bases loaded to end the inning.
The Biscuits took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth frame as Johan Matuila drove in a run to put the Biscuits up 4-3. Montgomery extended their lead to 5-3 with an RBI single from Chris Nowak in the sixth inning.
The Jaxx will look for a series split on Sunday with Montgomery at 2:05 on Sunday afternoon at Riverwalk Stadium, in Montgomery, AL. In a rematch of game one, RHP Steve Bray (4-4, 3.07) will face off against RHP Alex Torres (7-1, 2.50).
The Diamond Jaxx will return to Pringles Park on Monday, June 28 and host the Tennessee Smokies at Pringles Park for a six-game series.
