BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, dropped the second game of a two-game home series with G League Ignite, 119-116, on Tuesday night at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.

Squadron (1-3) guard Javonte Smart knocked down two three pointers under a minute to pull Birmingham within three at 119-116 but Zylan Cheatham's last-second attempt to tie the game was long.

Birmingham was led in scoring for the second consecutive game by Dereon Seabron's 33 points, while Kelan Martin dropped in 23 for the home team. Cheatham led the Squadron on the boards with nine rebounds.

All five Birmingham starters scored at least 14 points.

Scoot Henderson paced G League Ignite (3-1) with 26 and Eric Mika tallied 23 and 15 rebounds. Ignite scored 42 points off the bench while Birmingham finished the game with eight bench points.

Birmingham has Wednesday off before traveling to South Bay to take on the Lakers at 9 p.m. Thursday at UCLA Health Training Center. The game can be seen on My68 WABM in Birmingham or nationally on ESPN+.
