TODAY'S NEWS

- After practice, The Iron content team caught up with QB Blake Sims. Blake Sims is soaking up the opportunity. Sims, a former starting quarterback at the University of Alabama, is "happy" to be with his new Birmingham Iron teammates as well as some of the old faces from his time at Alabama. Having multiple former Alabama players on the Iron's roster has made Sims' transition with the club an easy one. - B-roll, interviews, and images from Iron training camp are available on the Iron media website .

- IRON TRANSACTIONS: - The Iron waived QB Alek Torgersen (Pennsylvania) on 1/15/2019.

- The Iron signed T Michael Dunn (Maryland) From Reserve/Other League, WR Amba Etta-Tawo (Maryland) From Reserve/Other League, and LB Shaq Jones (Alabama-Birmingham) to the active roster on 1/15/2019.

IRON INFO

- The Birmingham Iron team headquarters while in training camp in San Antonio is the Gustafson Stadium.

- PLAYER ALLOCATION PROCESS: The Iron are allocated players who went to college at Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech, NC State, Maryland, Missouri, Alabama-Birmingham, South Alabama, Troy, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Jacksonville State, Samford, Miles College, North Alabama, Tuskegee and West Alabama.

- The Iron are allocated players who played professional football in the National Football League and Canadian Football League. NFL teams include: Patriots, Bills, Browns, Steelers. CFL teams include: Montreal, Ottawa.

- NFL If a player's college is outside the Alliance location footprint AND he did not play in the NFL or CFL, then he is "unallocated" and available to be tendered a contract by any Alliance team.
