Mississippi Surge News Release

BILOXI - The two professional sports teams on the Mississippi Coast have formed a strategic alliance, respective team officials announced today.

Tim Bennett, minority owner of the Double-A minor league baseball team that will start play in downtown Biloxi at MGM Park next spring, said the alliance with the Mississippi Surge of the Southern Professional Hockey League will benefit both teams and their fans.

"This is an opportunity for us to get our feet on the ground more quickly than expected," explained Bennett, 'while at the same time fusing the energy of both operations to better serve the rabid sports fans in Biloxi and throughout the region."

Bennett will be introduced to the crowd and drop the puck at Friday night's Surge game against the Peoria Rivermen at 7:05 in the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. A table will be set up at the game for interested baseball fans to register for ticket information.

Additionally, baseball fans can sign up for ticket information by visiting the Surge ticket offices at the Coliseum through the remainder of the hockey season, or by visiting the team website at www.baseballbiloxi.com .

"We are anxious to open our own local office in Biloxi," added Bennett. "But until then, the Surge have been kind enough to offer us the use of their ticket services. We are grateful for their assistance and encouragement, and we anticipate a mutually beneficial and long-lasting relationship as we move forward."

Jimmy Hodge, local Surge owner, echoed Bennett's sentiment. "We are as excited as everyone else about minor league baseball coming to the Coast," he said. "We salute the new baseball team and its ownership for their commitment to the Coast and we, too, expect our relationship to strengthen both brands and their respective fan bases."
