Billings & Macintosh Win April Player & Rookie of the Month Awards

May 4, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release

Garrett Billings of the Toronto Rock and Jordan MacIntosh of the Minnesota Swarm are the National Lacrosse League's Player and Rookie of the Month, respectively, for April.

Billings scored nine goals, added 19 assists and picked up 16 loose balls as the Rock went 3-1 during the month to enter the postseason as East Division champions.

Billings closed the regular season with a season-high five goals and three assists in the Rock's 12-11 win over Edmonton on April 28. Billings finished the 2012 regular season with 82 assists to set the league's new single season record. Also, his total of 114 points broke current Toronto captain Colin Doyle's team record and tied for the third-highest single-season total in league history. Billings shared Player of the Month honors for March with Grant and finished as runner-up to him for the league's Most Valuable Player on Thursday.

In four April games, MacIntosh scored six goals, had nine assists, collected 37 loose balls and won 29 face-offs to help Minnesota go 4-0 and head into the postseason as the No. 3 seed in West Division.

The Swarm will open their playoff schedule on Saturday night against Colorado in a West Divisional Semifinal that will air live on CBS Sports Network at 7:30pm Eastern.

MacIntosh was twice named Transition Player of the Week in April. The latest honor came Wednesday after the fourth overall selection in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft tied a career-high with six points (two goals, four assists) and matched a team-high with 13 loose balls in the Swarm's 16-13 win over Colorado last Saturday.

MacIntosh also won the award for Week 15 after he scored two goals with an assist and collected nine loose balls in a 14-9 win over Washington on April 14.

The monthly player award winners are selected by a vote of the league's general managers and head coaches.
