
Bighorns Acquire High-Flying Thomas

RENO, Nev.- The Reno Bighorns have acquired Doug Thomas, a 6-9 forward out of the University of Iowa, the team announced today.
Thomas, known for his extraordinary vertical leaping ability, was a second-round selection in the 2009 NBA D-League Draft by the Dakota Wizards. Prior to the NBA D-League Draft, Thomas played for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2009 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
The 2006 Big-10 Conference Sixth Man of the Year spent last season in Sweden. He has previous NBA D-League experience with the Iowa Energy, where he averaged 10.4 points and 6.3 boards per game in the 2007-08 season.
To make room on the roster, Reno has released forward Brian Laing, who averaged nine points and four rebounds over the first two games of the season.
Thomas and the Bighorns are now set to hit final leg of their season-opening three-game road trip when they visit the Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Friday. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. PST and the action can be seen live on NBA Futurecast by visiting www.RenoBighorns.com.
Reno's home opener is set for Dec. 5, when the Bighorns take on the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the Reno Events Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., with a magnet schedule giveaway among the highlights of the evening.
