Albany, N.Y., October 20, 2004 -- Big Win Ventures Inc., operators of the Albany Conquest of arenafootball2 has actively tried to expand business interests in the Capital Region over the last several years. Among those efforts were discussions with Albany County to purchase the Pepsi Arena. Those negotiations, which have gone on for several months, came to a close this week without an agreement to purchase the Pepsi Arena.
After two years of operating the Albany Conquest, Big Win Ventures believes that the best ownership for the team would be a local Capital Region group. Big Win Ventures is seeking local business leaders and people of substantial wealth who share an enthusiasm for sports and Arena Football in particular to participate in the purchase of the team. While seeking a group to purchase the team, the Albany Conquest are moving forward with plans for the 2005 season.
Big Win Ventures spent the past year branding the Albany Conquest, televising all 16 of the team's games as well as providing simultaneous radio broadcasts. The team's commitment to the fans, which was embodied by "This Team Puts on a Show" concept, was further enhanced via the presentation of several complete concerts and other quality performances such as the halftime show from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. These were expensive efforts that greatly enhanced awareness of the team.
Big Win Ventures believes that local owners would be better able to build on this awareness and take the team to the next level on the field and at the box office. Big Win Ventures is actively pursuing the sale of the team. The most successful teams in af2 have local ownership groups that include prominent business people from the community.
Big Win Ventures has been approached by a number of local groups that have indicated interest in learning more about the team and are being providing with the information they have requested.
