Big Weekend Ahead for the Ocean State Waves

June 16, 2015 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Ocean State Waves News Release

Following a successful two-game home stand this past weekend, a stretch in which an average of 845 fans packed into Old Mountain Field, the Ocean State Waves announce that there will be big plans in store for this weekend's home games. The Waves host the Newport Gulls in the second game of the 2015 Pell Bridge Series, while they battle the Southern Division leading Mystic Schooners in a Sunday matinee.

There are many thrilling events planned in addition to Saturday's game against the Gulls. Throwing out the first pitch at 6:00 pm is Rhode Island General Treasurer Seth Magaziner, while the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) is the official game day sponsor. Old Mountain Field will also have a double-play combination in terms of edible enjoyment, as food trucks for Eddie's BBQ and Nana's Ice Cream will be on hand for the ballgame.

On the field, the Waves look to bounce back after a 7-6 loss to their Pell Bridge rivals at Cardines Field back on June 12. If fans are unable to come to Old Mountain Field on Saturday, they could tune into the game in two different ways. First, fans could tune in online as Tim Scott and Rob Masse bring you the action on the NECBL Broadcast Network. Also, for the first time this summer, WADK (1540 AM in Newport) will broadcast the game live from Old Mountain Field, with Bob Angell and Tristan Hobbes on the call. First pitch is set for 6:05 in Wakefield.

Meanwhile, the Waves host the Mystic Schooners on Father's Day, complemented with a special 4:05 start time. There will be a special pregame ceremony before first pitch that honors all fathers. The Waves also invite all host family dads as well as the fathers of the players that are able to make it to the game. Also, Eddie's BBQ and Del's Lemonade will be on hand for culinary options at Old Mountain Field.

Amidst the camaraderie on the field for the Father's Day ceremonies, the Waves battle the hottest team in the league in the Mystic Schooners. Entering Tuesday, the Schooners have won seven straight games, including a 5-0 victory over the Waves back on June 6. Tune into the NECBL Broadcast Network as Tim Scott and Alex Teixeira bring you the call live on the internet. First pitch is set for 4:05 in Wakefield.
